In Canada, What Does “Disability Mean?”
That depends on where you are, as all 14 Canadian jurisdictions (three territories, 10 provinces and Canada as a federal entity) have defined disability somewhat differently. Many of these 14 jurisdictions have uniquely defined guide dogs, assistance dogs, service animals and other related terms. The compilation linked to below is not exhaustive, but intended to encourage those interested to find out what these terms mean in the jurisdiction in which they live, or where they intend to travel. If you wish more information, we encourage you to read the applicable legislation.
We have organized the legal definitions of disability from all 14 jurisdictions from West to East, with the three territories listed first.
